We hate to break the bad news, but if you’re running Google Chrome on Windows XP, Vista or Mac OX S 10.8 and lower, it’s time to stop. Why?
Google has announced that starting April 2016, Chrome will no longer receive updates or security fixes for these platforms. This change affects all users on Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Mac OS X 10.6 through 10.8 (Snow Leopard, Lion, and Mountain Lion). If you keep using your unsupported browser, this could put your trusty old computer at risk for viruses or malware infection.
Now of course, we really recommend upgrading from these older systems - for example, Microsoft ended support for XP two years ago. Apple has stopped supporting Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion, but it does offer a free upgrade to OS X El Capitan (10.11) in its Mac App Store.
